SSE regards diversity as a comparative advantage. The president has the responsibility to guarantee that goal-oriented diversity activities are being conducted. The diversity group and SSE’s diversity and gender equality coordinator give support and constitute the executive function. Also, each person in leading position has a particular responsibility to assure that active work with diversity issues takes place.
The Equal treatment of students act requires that the university college produces an annual plan for the work on equal treatment. The work emanates from the SSE plan of action, where goals and activities according to the financial year are outlined.
To us, work with equal treatment is about the right of each individual to be treated equally and not be subject to discrimination or acts of harassment. With diversity we refer to a working environment where everyone, regardless of background, successfully coexists and collaborates.
The work with diversity issues is about how people with different backgrounds, characteristics and orientations contribute to the organization and activities undertaken there. We believe that successful work with equal treatment is a prerequisite of diversity.
